The fabulous story of a legendary champion
Persik, an Arabian horse born at
Tersk Stud in the Caucasus in 1969, was purchased in 1974 by the National
Park of Cevennes; he soon turned into a great champion, especially on the
occasion of the first major
official endurance ride created in France: the "Florac 100 miles ride"
(a mythical reference
contest in Europe) that he won twice consecutively, in 1975 and 1976.
After a short but brilliant sports career he became a breeding star in
endurance.
His offspring with in first generation: Melfenik, Varoussa, Alrika, Dynamik,
Kamaya and in second with
these son stallions: Outlaw Persik or Arquès Perspex but also with this
daughter Flamme d’Avril
the mother of Gimini Courthouse the vice-European champion "open"
2003, have proved to be as
excellent as he was.
Up to now, more than 117 products out of these 329 he sired have qualified
themselves on 120, 130, 160
or 2 x 100 km international rides all over the world.
He has produced : 2 world champions, 2 reserve world champions, 2 reserve European champions including
one in "open", 1 E.L.D.R.I.C. champion, as well as 8 national
champions including 5 French
national champions and also many reserve national champions.
For the moment he has sired 24 different winners.
Persik died on 24 th of August 2001 but the legend goes on .
